Women's Golf Wins John Carroll Invitational

Michelle Spiegel placed second individually in the John Carroll Invitational.
Chesterland, Ohio – The Mercyhurst women's golf team captured the team championship at the 2008 John Carroll Women's Golf Fall Invitational, held at Fowler's Mill Golf Course Friday and Saturday.
 
The Lakers scored 715 over the 36 holes scored for the team competition, besting host John Carroll by 35 strokes. Mount Union placed third with 809 strokes, while Hiram earned fourth place with a score of 941. Baldwin-Wallace competed Saturday but was not eligible for the team championship.
 
Mercyhurst's Michelle Spiegel placed second with 216 strokes, followed by teammate Alanna Kirwan, who shot a 222 in taking third place. Kaitlin Brody finished sixth with a score of 230, and Mattye Laurer completed the Lakers' team scoring with a 237 for eigth place overall. Lauren Montebell also competed for Mercyhurst, shooting 242 for 10th place.
 
Individually, the championship was scored over 45 holes, and Hiram's Kritseenee Khuwchroen took medalist honors with a score of 211.
 
The team championship is the second for the Mercyhurst women's golf team this season.
 
The Lakers compete next in the Gannon invitational Saturday and Sunday.
