Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College field hockey was dealt its third loss of the season Tuesday evening, falling to No.1-ranked and defending national champion Bloomsburg, 9-1, at the Sports Stadium in Bloomsburg, Pa.

Lauren Rinaca led Mercyhurst (1-3) with her first goal of the season, while defensively, senior
Jen Macri stopped a career-high 18 saves.
Bloomsburg took command of the game early on, tallying five goals and holding the Lakers scoreless through the first 20 minutes of the game.
Rinaca broke the Huskies' reign on an unassisted play at 22:18, cutting the lead to four and taking both teams into halftime.
Despite the late score, the Bloomsburg offense kept on churning with four more goals in the second half, including three straight by Samantha Kropa who led all scorers with eight points.
With the victory, the Huskies improve to 7-0 overall and extend their winning streak to 10 games dating back to last season.
Bloomsburg outshot the Lakers, 40-3, and held the advantage in penalty corners, 21-4.
Mercyhurst returns home this week to host C.W. Post on Friday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m.
