2010-11: Became an All-American after winning three-of-five matches during Nationals to place fourth overall... on the road to fourth place he beat Justin Samora of Adams St. in the Championship first round and overtook Cory Dauphin in a 3-2 decision to face off against top ranked George Ivanov in the third place match… wrapped up the season with a 27-6 overall mark, went 11-2 in dual meet action while holding a 16-4 record during tournament play… went on a 10 match win streak at the end of the season to help him finish first in the Super Region I Championships making him a national qualifier and earning his first regional title, he beat the seventh seeded Nicholas Giulliette of Anderson helping him advance to the semi-finals, where he then beat nationally ranked Seth Phalen to enter the Championship bout against the No.1 seeded Sean Byrnes who he beat to capture his first Regional title…started the season with a seven game win streak extending from Nov.13 to Dec.4…took first place during the W&J open and was name most outstanding wrestler of the open…placed sixth during the PSAC Championships… was named PSAC wrestler of the week once (Nov.16)…named in the national rankings twice this season (3/2 – 2/16), ranking as high as No.6 and as low as No.7…ranked fourth in the regional poll three times, fifth once, and second once.

2009-10:  Posted a 13-8 mark, including an 11-7 mark in tournaments… did not wrestle past the NWCA Duals… placed in three of the four tournaments he entered, including a second-place finish at the National Catholic Invitational, a third-place showing at the Washington & Jefferson Open and a sixth-place showing at the PSAC Championship… of his 13 victories, six came via bonus points with three major decisions, two pins and a technical fall.

2008-09:  Red-shirt.

High School: Won a PIAA individual state championship and four individual WPIAL championships...Captain of the 2008 state champions...Two-time WPIAL district champions.

Personal: Born June 8, 1990...Studying Exercise Science while minoring in Business Administration...Son of Jim and Luann Shields...Two brothers, Jared and Josh...Brother Josh also wrestles at Mercyhurst.
