ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst edged Delaware St. with a 4–3 victory on Saturday at home in a closely contested matchup. The Lakers capitalized on Delaware St.'s three errors, scoring early and maintaining their lead through tense late innings.
In the first inning, Delaware State got on the board with a sacrifice fly for an early lead. The Lakers responded in the bottom half when
Zachary Kourous scored on a fielder's choice, and
Riley Ames followed with another run on a fielder's choice by
Mike Samarin. The score stood at 2–1 in favor of the Lakers after the first inning.
In the fourth inning, Mercyhurst extended its lead.
