Men's AAU Caps Off Campaign With Behrend, Alegheny

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's AAU team took on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Behrend and the Gators of Allegheny over the weekend for their final league matchups of the season.
 
In Game 1, Owen Morgan got the start in net for the Lakers.
 
In the 1st period, both teams spent time in the penalty box, but Behrend came away with a pair of goals in the period. The Lakers were unable to capitalize and were down 2-0 heading into the intermission.
 
In the 2nd period, an early Laker penalty gave the Nittany Lions a chance to score on the power play, which they achieved at 18:49. Behrend went to the box shortly after, but the Lakers gave up a shorthanded goal at 16:50. Behrend would score 4 more unanswered goals to wrap up the period. Max Ingerman came into the game during the 2nd period to relieve Morgan.
 
In the 3rd period, Thomas Edwards found the back of the net at 16:38 to chip away at the Behrend lead. Edwards would score just over 5 minutes later at 10:45, with his assist coming from Colin Barry. The Nittany Lions would score the final goal of the game at 6 minutes, capping the final score at 9-2.
 
The Lakers next turned their attention to Allegheny as they traveled to Meadville the following afternoon.
 
Ian Brown got the start in net for the Lakers, his 3rd of the season.
 
In the 1st period, Allegheny scored a pair of goals in quick succession at 11:49 and 9:54. At 6:29, Antonio Fleck notched his 4th goal of the season, assisted by Trevor Keenan and Anthony Clark. Allegheny would score one more goal at 2:37 before heading into intermission at 3-1.
 
In the 2nd period, both teams would battle back and forth until an Allegheny goal came at 6:33. Thomas Edwards would score his 17th goal of the season at 2:25, assisted by Jake Moran and Luke Dinkel.
 
In the 3rd period, Allegheny would score 4 unanswered goals. Despite an early Laker power play, the Hurst was unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.
 
The Lakers would ultimately fall in their final game 8-2.
 
The men's AAU team finishes the season with a record of 3-19 with a conference record of 2-9. Team leaders in scoring include Edwards with a stat line of 18-9-27, Trevor Keenan logging 5-12-17, and Brayden McGarry logging 9-5-14 on the year.
 
The young core of the Laker team will be looking to usher in a new era of Mercyhurst hockey in 2026-2027 campaign, where the university will celebrate its centennial anniversary.
 
The Lakers wish to thank captain Lorenzo Shipley, Colin Barry, Logan Williams, Anthony Clark, and assistant captain Nicholas Viselli for their hard work and dedication to the program during their time at Mercyhurst as well as good luck in their career paths.
