SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Mercyhurst fell to Wofford in a doubleheader defeat on Saturday at Russell C. King Stadium. The Lakers lost 10-0 in game one, and 13-1 in game two.
Game One
first inning set the tone as Wofford took an early lead, scoring three runs on four hits. A fielder's choice and a two-RBI single by the Terriers contributed to Wofford's initial advantage. The Lakers trailed 3-0 after the first inning.
In the third inning, an error by Mercyhurst allowed Wofford to score after reaching on a walk, extending Wofford's lead to 4-0. The Lakers were unable to capitalize offensively, leaving runners on base as the inning concluded.
Wofford's offense surged in the fourth inning, adding four runs to their total, pushing the score to 8-0. Mercyhurst's attempts to respond were stifled, leaving two runners stranded.
The seventh inning saw Wofford cap off their scoring with two additional runs, finishing the game with a score of 10-0. The Lakers finished the game with five hits and two errors, leaving seven runners on base.
