Wrestling Competes at Jamestown Open

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst wrestling team competed at the Jamestown Open Saturday afternoon with Jaden Reagle leading the way with a fourth-place finish at 165 lbs.
 
Reagle won his first bout by major decision over Theil's Jeremiah Mitchell. He dropped the second bout 8-4 before making a run in the consolation bracket.
 
Reagle won by tech fall in his first match in the consolation bracket and followed that up with a 2-1 decision over Gannon's John Watson. He went on to defeat John Caroll's Christian Friel 9-5, advancing to the third-place match in which Reagle forfeited.
 
Keith Mincin also competed in the 165 lbs bracket.
 
Colin Scherer placed sixth in 149 lbs bracket. He won his first two bouts by decision 7-1 and 4-1, before falling 10-5 in the quarterfinals.
 
Scherer bounced back with a with a pair of wins by decision before dropping the consolation semifinal match 6-0.
 
Xavier Dombkowksi made his way through the 149 lbs bracket before eventually falling to Scherer. Dombkowski earned a 12-6 decision in the opening round and a tech fall in his first consolation bout after falling by pin in the previous round. He won a 6-5 decision before meeting Scherer in the next round.
 
Noah Adamson also competed at 149 lbs.
 
Edwin Mooney earned one win in the 133 lbs bracket, a pinfall over Garrett College's Keon Gavin.
 
Jake LeClerc entered in the 184 lbs bracket. The senior fell in his opening match before posting a pinfall in the first consolation bout. He dropped his next match, falling out of the bracket.
 
Joshua Johnson-Cantrell posted won win on the day by pinfall before bowing out in the third round of the consolation bracket.
 
At heavyweight, Gino Guerrisi posted a win by fall and a win by decision in the consolation bracket before dropping out in the fourth round.
 
The Lakers are back in action next Friday, Jan. 30 for senior night as they host Penn State Behrend.
