Mercyhurst Football 48-14 victory over New Haven

Gamble Named NEC Football Rookie of the Week; Urena, Evans, and Trobel Tabbed as Prime Performers

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Freshman running back Jameir Gamble was named the NEC football Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. The Lakers also scored three Prime Performer nods in Adam Urena, Dylan Evans, and Brian Trobel, following the week two victory over New Haven.
 
Gamble helped the high-powered Laker offense to 647 yards of total offense. The freshman ran for 54 yards on ten attempts against the Chargers. He added 14 receiving yards on one reception as well.
 
Urena completed 22-of-28 pass attempts for 347 yards through the air and two touchdowns. Urena is currently second in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in passing yards per game (329).
 
Trobel had a game-high 114 rushing yards and three touchdowns on nine carries. It's Trobel's first game with 100 yards on the ground as a Laker.
 
The senior leads the NEC in rushing yards per game (77), yards per carry (9.6), and touchdowns (3).
 
Evans was the leading receiver for the Lakers for a second consecutive game, hauling in five catches for 157 yards. His touchdown came on the ground, running the ball in from eight yards out.
 
Evan is the league's leading receiver, with 252 total yards. His 18 yards per catch and 126 yards per game is also the best in the NEC.
