Lakers Field Hockey Drops Game One to Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Mercyhurst field hockey team opened its weekend road series with a hard-fought 4-0 loss to Central Michigan on Friday at Cristy Freese Field.

The Lakers held the Chippewas scoreless through the first half with strong goalkeeping from Louise Pert, recording 16 saves on 20 shots faced. Central Michigan added two goals in the third quarter and two more in the final period to seal the win. 

Delfina Magro registered the Lakers lone shot late in the fourth quarter. A total of 55 fouls were committed between the two teams, 30 coming from the Lakers. 

Mercyhurst will return to Cristy Freese Field on Sunday, September 7 to conclude its two-game series against the Chippewas.
