Erie, PA – Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse suffered a 19-9 defeat to LIU on Saturday afternoon in a game dedicated to Morgan's Message, a cause focused on raising awareness for mental health.

How it Happened
The Lakers got off to a strong start, scoring the first two goals of the game. Ellie Schau opened the scoring for Mercyhurst, followed by Emma Cimino to give the Lakers an early 2-0 lead. LIU quickly responded with a goal of their own, but Whitley Easton extended Mercyhurst's lead to 3-1. However, the Sharks would answer back with three consecutive goals to take a 4-3 lead into the second quarter.
In the second frame, LIU took control of the game, scoring nine unanswered goals to extend their lead to 13-3 at halftime, leaving Mercyhurst with a large deficit to overcome in the second half.
The Lakers began the third quarter with a strong effort, as Amanda Bailey and Camryn Trybuskiewicz netted the first two goals of the period. However, LIU responded with three more goals of their own. Mercyhurst fought back with two more goals from Brynn Hall and Ellie Schau to make it 16-7 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Meghan Nasman and Amanda Bailey each added a goal, but LIU sealed the game with three more goals to finish with a 19-9 scoreline.
Although the Lakers came up short, they proudly honored Morgan's Message, using the game as an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health and emphasize the crucial message that it's okay to not be okay, fostering an environment of support and understanding.
