Erie, PA – Today was the Mercyhurst Softball team's last home game of the season. Saint Francis attacked early. The Lakers prevented a run-rule, but fell in this one 15-4.
How it Happened
The Red Flash scored on the second pitch of the game. This came from center fielder Savannah Nash, who hit a home run to left center field. Shortly after, Olivia Ulam hit an RBI single to add another. Then, the Lakers had the top of their order retired which was immediately answered by Belle Farmer hitting a home run off the foul post in left field in the top of the second. Hannah Bendle followed this up with an inside-the-park home run. The Lakers went three-and-out again and at the end of the second, SFU led 7-0.
The Lakers got one back in the bottom of the third.
Alexa North stepped up to the plate and hit a bomb to center field to earn her first career home run. The Lakers added to their tally in the bottom of the fifth to prevent a run-rule when
Eliza Reynolds hit a two RBI double to right field to bring in
Shailene Riemedio and
Ava Zubovic. The Lakers loaded the bases afterward but could not capitalize.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Alexa North hit an RBI single that
Karlie Kasten used as an opportunity to round the bases from second base and score from. SFU ran away with the game in the top of the seventh, adding six more runs and taking this one 15-4.
