Erie, PA – Today was game three of the Softball's team series against LIU. Despite the rainy conditions, the Sharks got their bats going early and ended up winning 18-3 after five innings.
How it Happened
Today's game was moved from 12:00 to 2:00 due to the rainy weather in Erie. Alyssa Garcia hit a two-run home run in the Sharks' second at bat of the game which got things going early. Dallas Andrews hit a home run on the very next play straight to center field to make the score 3-0 from just three batters. LIU added another eight runs and seemed unphased by the weather after taking an 11-0 lead in the top of the first.
In the bottom of the first, the Lakers bats came alive as well.
Jazlynn Sanders and
Alexa North both got on base before
Mackenzie Gillis stepped up to the plate. The Lakers' catcher hit a three-run home run that landed just in front of the scoreboard in left field. This was
Mackenzie Gillis' second home run of the season. This made the score 11-3 after just one inning.
Eliza Reynolds made a spectacular diving catch from shortstop to rob the Sharks of a base hit in the top of the fifth. However, the Sharks offense proved to be too much as they took game three of the series 18-3.
