Teaneck, NJ – Today was the third game of the series between Mercyhurst and FDU. The Knights won both games yesterday 7-2 and 3-2. Today turned out to be an off day for the Lakers as they fell 13-0 after five innings.
How it Happened
FDU was dominant to begin the game. Madison Rishel got things going for the Knights with a single to left field. From there, they went on record four more hits and four runs to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lakers were struggling early on. Julia Swan, who threw well yesterday with 100 pitches and one earned run, struck out three of her four batters for in the top of the second. The Knights added another two runs in the bottom of the second that put them up 6-0. FDU registered another seven hits and six runs in the bottom of the fourth which seemingly put the game to rest. Julia Swan struck out her eleventh batter of the game in the top of the fifth to earn the run-rule win 13-0.
