Seahawks Take First Two Games Over Lakers

Staten Island, NY – The Mercyhurst Softball team traveled to Wagner College for their first conference series as a Division I university in the NEC. The Lakers were unable to come back in both games as they fell 5-1 in game one and 8-2 in game two.

Game One
Wagner struck first in the bottom of the first. Two runs from Alayna Giampolo and Emma Rocha put the Seahawks up 2-0. They added two more runs to make it 4-0 in the bottom of the second. Mercyhurst was unable to generate enough offense to come back as it was 5-0 heading into the seventh inning. Emelie Pascual hit a single to left field which allowed Mackenzie Gillis to score a run. However, the Seahawks took game one 5-1.

Game Two
The Lakers got on the board to start game two. Jazlynn Sanders stepped up to the plate and hit a bomb over the fence to record a two-run home run in the first inning. This was Jazlynn Sanders third homer of the season. Eliza Reynolds scored, and the score was 2-0.

The Seahawks also scored in the first and really got their bats going in the bottom of the fourth. This inning featured runs from Emma Rocha, Anna Burke, Savannah Czornomor, and Jordyn Dulken. Wagner put up eight unanswered runs throughout the game and took game two 8-2.
