Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team was unable to break through offensively on Friday night, falling 5-0 to American International College (AIC) at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Despite a strong effort in net by goaltender Michael Chambre, who made 31 saves, the Lakers were held scoreless for only the second time this season.
How It Happened:
AIC opened the scoring in the first period at 13:20 when Dario Beljo found the back of the net off assists from David Posma and Noah Serdachny, giving the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The second period saw AIC extend its lead, striking twice within a minute. Danny Weight made it 2-0 at 4:10, followed by Alfred Lindberg's goal at 4:59, putting the Lakers in a deeper hole heading into the final frame.
AIC continued to apply pressure in the third period, adding two more goals. Brett Bamber scored at 5:23, and Lindbergnetted his second goal of the night at 11:26, securing the 5-0 victory.
