Lakers Look to Remain Hot

2/5/2025 10:00:00 AM

Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst is set to get back into action tomorrow as they'll be looking to extend their winning streak to five games. The Lakers sit at 6-4 in conference play and they're aiming to continue to climb the conference rankings as they enter the final stretch of the 2024-2025 season.

Lakers Rolling:
Mercyhurst is currently on their longest winning streak of the season as they've won four straight. The last time the Lakers had a winning streak of four games or more was in the 2022-2023. But this winning streak is a historic one as it's the first time they've had a winning streak of four games or more at the Division I level. The team continues to be paced by Graduate Student Jeff Planutis and Senior Aidan Reichert. Planutis is just 51 points away from hitting 1,800 career points. He's tallied 372 points this season. Reichert is currently 44 points away from 1,300 career points. The duo will be looking to hit some more career accolades as the Lakers look to continue their winning streak against a first time foe in Chicago State.

Scouting Chicago State:
Chicago State is 3-20 this season and their only wins have come in conference play. Two of Chicago State's three wins have come at home, and they have yet to win back-to-back games. They'll face a tough task as Mercyhurst will be coming to town. Jalen Forrest has been Cougars go to guy this season as he's scored 251 points and he's coming off a 19 point performance in their 73-67 overtime win over LIU.

Scouting Le Moyne:
Le Moyne is on a three-game losing streak and before they take on Mercyhurst, they'll travel to take on Saint Francis. The Dolphins have just two conference wins this season as they sit in the cellar right now. They've also won just two games on the road in the 2024-2025 season. The key to a Lakers win will be stopping Dwayne Koroma who has tallied 261 points this season. They also have four players are averaging 11 points a game.

Next Game:
The Lakers will be on the road to take on Chicago State tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. before they return home to take on Le Moyne. The action can all be caught on the NEC Front Row.
