Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Men's and Women's tennis teams are set to get back into action this week with some big matchups as the season gets into full swing. The men will travel to the University of Buffalo on Wednesday before they take on Youngstown State on Saturday. The Women will travel to Daemen on Wednesday, Cleveland State Thursday and finish the week at home against Bucknell.
Â
Back in Full Swing:
Both the men and women fell in their first ever NEC matchups last week to Le Moyne. The men lost 5-2, with their only wins coming from
Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi and
David Mengher in singles action. Mengher has been impressive in his first three competitions for the Lakers as he's been able to record a win in each event thus far. But they'll be looking to
Colm Schultz, Lukas Cabue and
Danylo Rekun to get going as the Lakers will be looking for the second win on the season. Buffalo is 3-4 this season, but is coming off of a key 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure.
Â
On the women's side, they're still looking for their first DI duals match victory. They dropped to their season opening contest to Le Moyne 5-2 last week but saw some big wins from
Kayla Dean and
Daria Rogova. Dean and her doubles partner,
Roisin Murphy, are the reigning NEC champions and will be looking for their first win together in the spring season. They'll first take on Daemen, who is opening their spring season when they welcome the Lakers to town.
Â
Next Match:
The men will face off with Buffalo at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow and the women will face off against Daemen at 3:30 p.m.
