Altoona, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Women's Bowling team traveled to Altoona this weekend, where they competed in the second and final NEC meet of the season. TheLakers went 6-6 on the weekend and have secured their spot in the NEC Championship.
How it Happened:Â
In the Traditional Rounds, Mercyhurst went 3-3, with wins against Monmouth, LIU, and FDU. The Lakers fell to Wagner and lost close battles with both Niagara and Duquesne. Nicole Lemponen led the way for the Lakers with a 186.5 average, good for 8th in the field. Delaney Whitehead was next with a 182.33 and 12th overall.
The Lakers also went 3-3 in the Baker format, capturing wins against LIU, Wagner, and Duquesne. Sunday's win against Duquesne was win #300 for Coach Machuga and the Laker Bowling program.Â
Mercyhurst now sits in third place behind FDU and Duquesne in the NEC standings with cumulative record of 15-9 and will be the #3 seed out of 4 competing in the NEC Championship next month in Hamilton, New Jersey.

The Lakers will be back on the hardwood next weekend at Brunswick Spring Classic hosted by Niagara. It's one of three competitions left this season.Â
