ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's hockey team hosted Lindenwood for game one of their final series of 2025. The first period ended 2-0 in favor of the Lakers. They put six more in the second and three in the third to defeat the Lions 10-1. Three Lakers recorded four-point games and three recorded three-point games.
Mercyhurst (11-8-2, 7-3-1 AHA) established early momentum in the first period, controlling possession and generating multiple scoring opportunities. It was
Julia Schalin's goal at 13:36 that broke the deadlock, giving the home team an early advantage. Despite a power play opportunity for the visitors, the Laker's defensive efforts, including key saves by
Magdalena Luggin, preserved the lead. As the period progressed, the Lakers continued to pressure Lindenwood (5-14-2, 3-7-1 AHA).
Regina Metzler extended the lead to two at 3:25 with an even-strength goal assisted by
Sofia Nuutinen and
Kate Donegan. The period concluded with the Lakers maintaining their two-goal advantage.
The Lakers extended their lead early in the second period with Nuutinen's goal just 24 seconds in. This one was assisted by Metzler and
Payten Evans. The Lakers capitalized on another power play with
Berlin Lolacher's goal at 2:46, assisted by
Julia Perjus and Evans. Lindenwood answered at 5:22, but the Lakers quickly regained momentum. Schalin scored a power-play goal at 7:08, assisted by Perjus and Evans, and later added a short-handed goal at 14:26, completing her second career hat trick. The Lakers continued to dominate with Evans scoring another power-play goal at 16:53, assisted by
Holly VanNetten and Nuutinen. The Lakers carried a strong 7-1 lead into the third period.
The final frame began with the Lakers capitalizing on their scoring opportunities to further extend their lead. At 14:27,
Sophie McKinley scored an even-strength goal assisted by Perjus and Schalin, increasing the team's large advantage. Just 20 seconds later,
Avery Bryk added another goal with assists from Lolacher and
Avery Norman, bringing the score to 9-1. The Lakers continued to dominate converting a power-play opportunity when McKinley netted her second goal of the period at 10:55, assisted by Lolacher and Metzler. The Laker's rout ended at 10 goals when the final horn blew.
