Bowling Finishes Tied for 3rd at NEC Meet

MOUNT JOY, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's Bowling team traveled to Mount Joy for the first NEC Meet of the season this past weekend. The Lakers showcased multiple strong performances, finishing the weekend tied for 3rd place out of 8 teams.
 
In Traditional competition, the Lakers started off with a strong win against Long Island by a score of 1,028-897. Ahmielle Roberts led the team by rolling 279, a tournament best. The Lakers then fell to Farleigh Dickinson before securing crucial victories against Wagner and Monmouth. In their final pair of traditional matchups, the Lakers fell to Niagara and Duquesne by narrow margins of 1,030-1,015 and 943-908 respectively.
 
In Baker competition, the Lakers won 5 of their 6 matchups, with wins coming against Monmouth, Long Island, Farleigh Dickinson, and Wagner. Their only Baker loss came at the hands of Niagara by a score of 1,067-988. The Lakers then tied Duquesne for a 3rd place finish in the meet.
 
The Lakers finished the weekend with a tournament record of 7-5 and 11,928 total pins between Traditional and Baker competition, as well as an impressive 198.8 team average per game. The Lakers also had four players finish in the Top-20 of the tournament.
 
Roberts earned top honors for the weekend, finishing with 1,325 total pins along with a 220.83 average.  Tia Germanich finished 2nd with 1,317 pins and an average of 219.5, continuing her strong stretch of play heading into the break. Mackensie Livingston also continued her strong play by securing 11th place. She accumulated 1,167 pins and an average of 194.5. Briana Provenzano finished the weekend in 17th place with 1,127 pins and a 187.83 average.
 
The Lakers will resume play February 6 for the Mount Shootout in Emmitsburg, Maryland
