The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team travels to Buffalo this weekend to take on AHA opponent Canisius.

The Lakers scored three goals last weekend.
Matteo Disipio scored the lone goal on Friday. He was assisted by
John Larkin and
Jacob LeBlanc.
Tyler Nasca scored an even strength goal last week just 25 seconds after RIT took a one goal lead. He was assisted by
Trent Sambrook.
Captain
Barrett Brooks scored his first goal of the season in the third period of Saturday's matchup. He was assisted by
Spencer Smith and LeBlanc. LeBlanc's assists bring him to the top of the stat sheet for the Lakers as he leads the team with four this season.
Charles-Edward Gravel stood in goal both nights for the Lakers. Gravel made 37 saves across both games, ending the weekend with a .861 SV% and 3.08 GAA.
A Closer Look: Canisius
- Canisius enters their season 5-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play
- Most recently they faced AHA opponent Sacred Heart, where they were handed two losses.
- The Golden Griffins have found their singular AHA win against Army.
- Trey Funk is the team's top returning scorer as he was tied for third in goals last season with eight. Funk also finished last season third in points with 17.
- Grant Porter has made his presence known on the ice this season after finishing last season second in goals with 10. Porter is first in points and assists this season with eight assists, four goals, and 12 points.
- Oliver Tarr also returns to the ice as he finished last season tied for fourth in points with 15 and tied for third in goals with eight. Tarr currently sits tied for goals with four and assists with three. He is third in points with seven.
- Junior forward Walter Zachar joins the Golden Griffins after spending the last two seasons at fellow AHA competitor RMU. Zacher leads the Golden Griffins in goals thus far with six. He is tied in second for assists with three and is second in points with nine.
- Netminder Chase Clark has started 11 games for the Golden Griffins. Clark holds a 2.74 GAA and .909 SV% and comes to Canisius as a graduate transfer, spending last season at previous AHA member AIC.
- In 2021 Clark was selected 183rd in the NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals.
