10/19/2025 10:00:00 AM

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst AAU Hockey team hosted the Jayhawks of JCC on Friday night, who were looking to set the tone for the start of the season series.

Rookie Max Ingerman got the start for Mercyhurst, looking to bounce back at home. The Lakers battled the Jayhawks throughout the first two frames of the game. The Lakers were sent to the penalty box for a holding penalty in the 1st period, but no scoring from either side until the 3rd period. The Lakers were out shot 26-13 through the first two periods.

In the 3rd period, Antonio Fleck scored his 1st career AAU goal five minutes into the frame with Thomas Edwards getting the assist for the lead. The Jayhawks would answer with a shorthanded goal with six minutes left in the game. With just under two minutes left, JCC would score what would ultimately be the game-winning goal while again shorthanded. The Lakers would go on to drop the competition 2-1.

Ingerman would stop 14 of 16 shots faced.

The Lakers would go on to drop their matchup against Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday night.

The Blue and Green will next travel to downtown Erie for their matchup against Gannon. Puck drop set for 7 PM at Erie Insurance Arena.
