PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's tennis team traveled to the City of Brotherly Love over the weekend to compete in the ITA Northeast Regional Championships. The Lakers were represented by
Daria Rogova,
Simone Mercier,
Celeste Davis, and
Kiersten Brown, each of whom were looking to continue a strong level of competition as the fall season winds down.

In singles competition, Rogova faced Lehigh Valley in the Round of 64, eventually losing 6-2 and 6-0. Mercier also competed in the opening round of the tournament, facing NEC opponent Fairleigh Dickenson. She would win the initial matchup 6-4, but would fall to the Knights 3-6 [4-10]. Davis would face off against Stony Brook in the Round of 32 qualifier, but would fall 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles competition, the team of Rogova and Davis faced Lehigh Valley in the opening round, coming away with a stellar 8-1 win. They would eventually fall to Columbia 8-1 in the Round of 32. The second Laker team to compete was Brown and Mercier, who faced Pennsylvania, but would unfortunately fall 8-3 in the Round of 64.

The Lakers now head into a break before resuming play in the spring semester.
