Lakers Prep for Big Week of NEC Action

1/29/2025 1:00:00 PM

Erie, Pa.- Coming off the heels of the Lakers first two win week since they began conference play, the Lakers are set for another big week of action. The Lakers, who are now 4-4 in NEC play St. Francis on Thursday before they take on FDU for the first time.

Lakers Rolling:
Mercyhurst is coming off of their most productive week since they entered conference play. The Lakers picked up two big NEC wins over Wagner and LIU. The second of which came in double overtime and saw Graduate Student Jeff Planutis deliver the dagger to seal the win. Planutis was named an NEC Prime Performer for his performance alone with Senior Bernie Blunt III and Senior Aidan Reichert. Blunt dropped 27 points in the win over LIU and he's scored 77 total points over his last five games. Reichert has remained hot as he's scored 15 or more in his last four outings. The Lakers will look to continue their offensive production as they take on St. Francis and FDU this week.

Scouting St. Francis:
The Last time the Lakers played the Red Flash they fell 73-59. Since then, St. Francis is 2-3 and they're coming off a two-point loss against Wagner. The Lakers will need to stop the duo of Riley Parker and Bobby Rosenberger III, who are combining for 23 points per game. Ironically, the duo combined for 23 points against the Lakers earlier this month. The Lakers will be aiming to shut them down so they can split the season series.

Scouting FDU:
FDU is sitting at 4-2 in NEC play and they'll be trying to create a gap between themselves and the rest of the conference this week. Terrence Brown has been their standout player as he's averaging 21 points a game. In their last five games, he's scored 25 or more three times. A big key to picking up a win over FDU will be stopping him on the offensive end.

Promotions:
The game against St. Francis will also feature the first of six in a row $2 beer Thursday nights. Alumni Appreciation Day and Hall of Fame day is also coming up on February 8th.

Next Game:
The Lakers will be back on the court tomorrow night when they welcome St. Francis to town as they finish up their three-game home stand.  The action starts at 7:00 p.m and can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
