1/2/2025 8:13:00 PM

Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst is set to kick off their first ever NEC slate when they matchup with Stonehill and Central Connecticut State this weekend. The Lakers finished their nonconference schedule with a 6-9 record but will be looking to get back on the right track.

Time for NEC Play:
Mercyhurst saw some encouraging play in their first Division I action during the first two months of play. Now, the real test is set to begin. They'll look to lean on Graduate Student Jeff Planutis and Senior Aidan Reichert. Planutis has scored 219 points throughout the first 15 games of the season. He's averaged 14.6 points and has sunk a team-high 27 three pointers. On the other hand, Reichert has scored 174 total points and averaged 11.6 points per game. The duo will be looking to continue their productivity as they get set for Stonehill and CCSU.

Scouting Stonehill:
Stonehill enters NEC play with an 8-7 record, and they're winners of their last two. Stonehill has seen solid play from a committee of players. Josh Morgan and Todd Brogna are the only two with more than 140 points on the season. Brogna is averaging 12.1 points a game and Morgan is averaging 13.8. The Lakers will be looking to shut down the duo in their first ever NEC game.

Scouting Central Connecticut State:
Central Connecticut State has had a hot start to the 2024-2025 season. The Blue Devils are 9-4 and have had big wins over Binghamton and UMass. Devin Haid has been the best player for them thus far. He's scored 11 or more points in nine games this season, including 24 against Quinnipiac. The Blue Devils will face off with Saint Francis before they make the trip to Erie on Sunday.

 Next Game:
The Lakers will face off with Stonehill tomorrow, January 3rd at 7:00 p.m. All the action can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
