Box Score Syracuse, NY.- Mercyhurst dropped their third straight game on Sunday as they fell 79-63 to Le Moyne. It was the Lakers sixth loss in their last seven games.
How it happened:
The Lakers returned to the court looking to change their fortunes. But a 10-0 by Le Moyne had Mercyhurst playing catch up early. It wasn't until five and a half minutes in the Graduate Student
Jeff Planutis broke the Lakers through. The Lakers continued to chip away at the Dolphins lead, but every time they did, Le Moyne had an answer. A Fred Pauls Bagatskis three pointer gave them a 14-point lead with just a few minutes left in the first period. But an 8-1 run that was capped off by a Planutis jumper made it a 35-28 game at the half.
The Lakers continued chipping away as the second half began, but the Dolphins offensive attack wouldn't let up. Immediately after a
Bernie Blunt III three pointer to cut the lead to eight, Robby Carmody went down the court and answered with a layup to put the game back to double-digits. A Dwayne Koroma dunk with 10 minutes left put the game out of reach for good as Le Moyne cruised to a 79-63 victory.
Highlights:
Bernie Blunt led the Lakers with 15 points as they continue to adapt to NEC play. Planutis added ten points. The Lakers will be looking to put everything together as they continue their four-game road trip.
Next game:
Mercyhurst will get back on the court next Saturday when they travel to New York to take on Wagner. Action kicks off at 1:00 p.m. and can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
