Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Women's Soccer team is set to wrap up their seven-game road trip this Thursday when travel to Milwaukee for a game against Marquette. The Lakers will then return to Erie for their home opener where they will welcome Morehead State to Saxon Stadium.
Road Tested:
Mercyhurst stayed on the road as they made the trip to Pittsburgh to face off against Pitt last Sunday. The Lakers dropped the matchup 7-0, but Head Coach
Rich Wall got 29 players into the game. Mercyhurst has a tough schedule to open the season, and while they haven't gotten the results they would like, there's still been a lot of positives to take away
Lakers Leaders:
Sophomore
Camille Bultel and Freshmen
Rosie Bandura and
Annaliese Black lead the Lakers with one goal each. Graduate Student
Chelsea Radicia leads the Lakers with 37 saves in net. She's faced 127 shots in just six games. Graduate Student
Alyssa Poleski continues to pace the Lakers with 482 minutes played and she's also started all six games. Sophomore
Anamari Bosnjak, Graduate Student
Emily Mijares and Sophomore Madison Sievering have the most shots on the squad with three a piece.
Scouting Marquette:
Marquette has faced a rough start to beginning of the 2024 season. The Golden Eagles have amassed a 1-5-1 record through their first seven games with their lone win coming in the form of a 1-0 win over the University of Illinois Chicago. The Lakers and Golden Eagles have each only scored three goals thus far. Mercyhurst will look to take advantage of what looks to be an even match in Wisconsin.
Scouting Morehead State:
Mercyhurst will finally hold their home opener when they welcome Morehead State to town. The Eagles sit at 3-3-1 through their first seven games of the year. Morehead State has dropped their last two games, with the latest loss coming at the hands of Northern Kentucky in a 1-0 decision. Freshman Carlie Thurmond leads Morehead State with two goals on the year. The Lakers will look to gain some momentum on the road before returning to Saxon to match up with the Eagles.
Next Game:
Mercyhurst and Marquette will face off on Thursday, September 12th at 6:00 p.m. The Lakers will then play in Erie for the first time as a Division I squad against Morehead State on Sunday, September 15th at 1:00 p.m.
