Lakers Late Surge Falls Short Against Seton Hill

Erie, Pa. - Coming off a road win over Edinboro, the Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse team looked to make it two in a row as they hosted Seton Hill. The Lakers made a comeback attempt late in the game, but the Griffins held on for a 15-11 win.

After a slow start to the game, where neither side could find an opening, the Griffins broke the scoreless tie with eight minutes left in the first quarter. Just a minute later, Whitley Easton tied the game at one. Another goal by Whitley Easton and a goal by Amanda Bailey gave the Lakers their first lead of the game at 3-1. The Griffins got a goal late in the quarter to cut into the lead. The Lakers led 3-2 after one.

Within the first minute of the second quarter, the Griffins tied the game at three. Gabby McGinn found the back of the net to give the Lakers the lead back. The Griffins proceeded to go on a 7-0 run to blow the game open and take a 10-4 lead. The Griffins picked up a yellow card, giving the Lakers the advantage, Whitley Easton took advantage of the opportunity and buried her free position shot. The Griffins added two more to make it 12-5 at halftime.

The Lakers made a run at a huge comeback in the second half, outscoring the Griffins 6-2. The comeback efforts from the Lakers fell short.
