Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse team looked to close out the season undefeated in GMAC play. The Lakers grabbed a 22-10 win over Malone to clinch an undefeated conference record. With the home victory, the Lakers finished the regular season with a 6-1 record at home and an 11-4 overall record.
How it Happened
In the first six minutes of the first quarter, the Lakers took a 5-0 lead. The Pioneers got on the board with back-to-back goals late in the quarter. The Lakers closed out the first quarter with goals from Ethan Landymore and Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre.
In the second quarter, the Lakers outscored the Pioneers 8-3, taking a 15-5 lead at the half. The Lakers got two quick goals from Colin Tardif and Jackson Saulpaugh to begin the quarter and finished the quarter on a 5-0 run.
Colin Schmatz, Darin Santos, and Jaxon Mohawk notched goals for the Lakers in the third quarter. The Lakers and Pioneers went back and forth in the fourth quarter, but the Lakers had already put the game out of reach.
Highlights
Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre posted two goals and two assists on the stat sheet.
