Lock Haven, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference announced their tennis athletes of the week with the Lakers grabbing one of those honors as Ben Davis is named the winner for the men. 

The Laker graduate student ended up competing in the team's two matches on the week winning each of his four bouts. He and Lukas Cabue Valverde played together as Mercyhurst's number two tandem on Saturday, April 20th, in their first match of the week with the duo coming away with a 6-2. He the continued his strong day with him coming way with a victory in singles in straight sets. The Rochester, N.Y. native dominated in his first set, 6-1, before using the momentum to help him to a 6-3 win in the second. 

Davis and Cabue Valverde got back on the courts on Sunday for the finale of their weekend road trip against Bloomsburg in the team's 5-2 with the duo grabbing a 6-4 victory at the number two spot. Davis then had his best performance of the week and one of the better ones of his season in singles play as the number three with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win to help his team claim another win.

This marks the third time this season that Davis has won the award with the graduate student doing so in weeks one and three, giving him the most of any athlete in the PSAC this season. He has played his way to a record of 11-6 in doubles play alongside Cabue Valverde with him holding the best record in singles play at 16-1. Davis has ben hot of here of late when going solo with seven of those victories coming in a row.

Davis and the Lakers complete the regular season portion of their season schedule this upcoming weekend when they take on Charleston. That contest is set for Sunday, April 28th, at 1:00 p.m. inside the Westwood Racquet Club.
