Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse hosted crosstown rival Gannon for a matchup under the lights of Saxon Stadium. Gannon came from behind in the fourth quarter to get a 19-17 win over the Lakers.
How it Happened
The Lakers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after they got goals from Hannah Young, Emma Cimino, and two from Marlee Antinora. Both sides went back-and-forth for the remainder of the first quarter. The Lakers led 8-4 after one.
The Golden Knights outscored the Lakers 4-2 in the second quarter, getting to within two goals at the half. The two Laker goals came from Gabby McGinn and Hannah Young.
Marlee Antinora and Emma Cimino scored found the back of the net early in the third quarter. The Golden Knights matched those two goals, making it 12-10 in favor of the Lakers. The Lakers outscored the Golden Knights 3-2 the rest of the third quarter and held a 15-12 lead.
After the Golden Knights got within two goals, Hannah Young found the back of the net, extending the lead back to three. The Golden Knights went on a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the game. Hannah Young scored to make it 18-17, but the Golden Knights scored late to secure a 19-17 win.
