Auburndale, FL- The Mercyhurst Softball team took on the College of Saint Rose and the University of Mary this afternoon, falling short in both matchups. The Lakers dropped the first game 6-4 and fell to the Marauders 7-1 in the afternoon game. The Lakers are now 2-5 on the year.
Game One: Saint Rose
Saint Rose found the scoreboard in the bottom half of the first inning after a 2-run homerun. They then doubled their lead in the home half of the 2nd inning, plating two more runs off a single. The Lakers got going in the third inning after a leadoff walk, which was followed up by a Brynna King single. Madison Fry-Fachet then singled home the first Mercyhurst run to make the lead 4-1. Eliza Reynolds added to the Laker tally with a two out single to drive home King. The two defenses kept each other quiet for the remainder of the game as the Lakers fell short of Saint Rose, 4-2.
Highlights
Ashlyn Harvey came into the game in relief to throw 4.1 innings of shutout softball, allowing only one hit, while striking out 3.
Eliza Reynolds and Madison Fry-Fachet each collected a hit and an RBI in the loss.
Game Two: Mary
As game two got underway, the Lakers dug themselves a hole early, as the University of Mary plated three runs in the first inning after a walk and three singles. After pushing another runner across in the second inning, the Marauders poured it on in the top half of the 4th inning as two more runners came around to score to make the score 6-0.
Mercyhurst couldn't get anything going offensively until a run finally crossed in the 7th inning as Francesca Latino singled home Bailey Cannon. It was little too late however as the Lakers fell short of the Marauders 7-1.
Highlights
Francesca Latino, Bailey Cannon, and Alexandra Acosta-Reyes were the only three Lakers to record hits in the game.

The Lakers will enjoy a day off tomorrow, before getting back on the diamond on Wednesday, March 6th. Mercyhurst will play Bemidji State University at 10:15 AM and Minnesota State University at 12:30 PM.
