New Castle, De. - Mercyhurst women's bowling wrapped up their weekend Sunday afternoon, playing in a trio of contests. While the Lakers fought hard in each, they were unable to come away with a win and ended their time away from home in sixth in the Wildcat DII-III Invite.
How it Happened
Mercyhurst began their day with Kutztown, hoping to get some revenge for a loss the team suffered against the Golden Bears on day one of the tournament. They were unsuccessful, though, as they fell in six games with just one win to their ledger. The Lakers put up a strong fight in the second game against Kutztown with a match-high of 203, but the Golden Bears just edged them out, 206-203, before another solid effort in game three that ended in a 194-194 tie. From there, Kutztwon went back on the attack to claim the win.
Up next on the docket for Mercyhurst was Felician who ended up getting the win in four games. After dropping the first game 236-178, it looked like the Lakers were set to grab a win in the second to tie things up, scoring a match-high of 213, but Felician recorded a score of 214 to take the win.
The team's third matchup of the day ended up being Alvernia who got some revenge on Mercyhurst for the loss they handed them the day prior. It was a back-and-forth affair between the two teams as they traded wins with Alvernia finally able to take the win in seven games.
Next Game
Mercyhurst comes home and now prepares for their final competition in the month of February. The team makes the trip to Buffalo, N.Y. this upcoming weekend for the Brunswick Spring Classic with action beginning on Friday, February 24th and ending the following day.
