Women's Bowling Set to Begin New Campaign with Mercyhurst Invitational

ERIE, PA – The Mercyhurst women's bowling team is set to kick off their 2026-27 season by hosting their 6th annual Mercyhurst Invitational at Rolling Meadows Lanes October 3rd and 4th. The Lakers will also be honoring two of their seniors, Emma Windows and Ahmielle Roberts, on Sunday, October 4th.
 
Tournament Outlook
 
Throughout the weekend, there will be nine teams competing in total;
  • Mercyhurst
  • Roberts Wesleyan
  • Damen
  • Niagara
  • LeMoyne
  • William Smith
  • Hilbert
  • D'Youville
  • Duquesne
Beginning on Saturday, the teams will compete in five Traditional matches starting at 10:05 AM. The scores will be recorded for each competitor and contribute to their tournament ranking throughout the weekend. On Sunday, seniors will be honored and then competition will resume at 8:55 AM, where all teams will bowl four matches of Baker rounds before having a final match of Best of 7 to determine each team's final placement in the tournament. Afterwards, awards will be given to the teams and competitors with the best performances overall from the weekend.

Lakers to Watch
 
Tia Germanich is entering her junior season as one of the top performers in the NEC. In the 2025-26 season, she was named to the All-NEC First Team for the first time in her career thanks to multiple Bowler of the Week and Prime Performer honors. In conference play, Germanich managed to throw 121 strikes in 240 attempts, ranking her fifth in the conference.
 
Briana Provenzano earned her spot on the All-NEC Rookie Team in the 2025-26 season thanks to standout performances throughout the season. After being named Rookie of the Week and Prime Performer once last season, Provenzano finished in the top 20 for spare conversion and overall scoring.
 
Mackensie Livingston had a strong finish to the 2025-26 season by being named Co-MVP in the NEC Championship tournament, where the Lakers finished in 2nd place, as well as All-Tournament Team honors for the first time in her career. The junior bowler is coming into this season after throwing 52 strikes in the tournament as well as placing 3rd in overall scoring for the tournament.
 
Among other key returners such as Tatiana Llera, Lily Watts, and Roberts, the Lakers look to begin their season on a strong note this weekend.
