Syracuse, NY. - The Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey team looked to finish the regular season on a high note when they took on Syracuse in game two of their weekend series with the Orange. The Lakers came away with the series sweep to finish the regular season 18-15-1 overall and 14-6 in the CHA.
How it Happened
Kylee Mahoney gave the Lakers an early 1-0 lead just 4:13 seconds into the first period.
After going scoreless in the first period, the Orange came out in the second period and tied the game with a goal by Maya D'Arcy. Later in the second period the Lakers got the lead right back on a goal by Vanessa Upson.
Just 50 seconds into the third period, Thea Johansson wasted no time to extend the Lakers lead to 3-1. Johansson beat the goaltender with a snipe of a wrist shot. At 5:11 in the third period, it was Sydney Pedersen's turn to join the action, as she scored to extend the lead even further to 4-1.

Ena Nystrøm stopped 32 shots and got the win. Nystrøm skated in her 100th career game and her win in goal today was the 50th of her career.
Head Coach Mike Sisti secured yet another winning record. Sisti has only had two losing seasons in 25 years at the helm.
