Lakers go Undefeated in New York, Finish Fifth

Kenmore, NY.- The Mercyhurst Women's Bowling team wrapped up another impressive outing as they finished fifth at the Brunswick Fall Open. The Lakers made some history as they finished 10-0 at a two-day event for just the second time in program history.
 
How it Happened:
The Lakers dominated the weekend as they seemed to outmatch every opponent they played. On day one, the Lakers started play against Hilbert and walked away with an 838-760 win. Mackensie Livingston had the highest score for the Lakers in the match with 193. They followed that up with a 952-859 victory over D'Youville. Aubrey Stewart had the high score with 208. Verus Roberts Wesleyan, the Lakers took a 902-849 win before they finished the day with wins over both Penn State Behrend and Pitt Bradford.
 
They started day two against Bryant University, the Lakers won three of five games, including a 190-161 performance to set the tone. They had a total pinfall of 912 to Bryant's 840. Mercyhurst also took a narrow victory against the host school, Niagara, with a total pinfall of 918-917. Against Daemen University, they won three games and had a total pinfall of 848-810. They also took three from St. Vincent with a total pinfall of 934-901. In a best four of seven match against Bryant, the Lakers had a statement comeback. After falling behind three games to one, Mercyhurst won three straight to take the match. The Lakers final three wins in the match were 210-147, 221-173 and 170-146.
 
Delaney Whitehead continued her great start to season as she placed 14th in individual standings. She had an average of 184.20 in five games. Nikki Lemponen didn't finish far behind as she placed 16th with a 181.20 average. Ahmielle Roberts played just four games, but still finished 41st with an average of 183.
 
Next Game:
The Lakers close out their fall slate of games in a little under two weeks when they head to their first ever NEC Meet on Friday, November 15th.
