Lakers Set to Close Season Against Saint Francis

Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Football team will conclude their season this Saturday as they welcome Saint Francis Univerity on Saturday, November 23rd. The Lakers are currently 3-7 on the year and will look to finish strong with a home victory. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.



A Look Back
The Mercyhurst Lakers enter their final game of the 2024 season on a high note, following a dominant 66-0 win over Lincoln University. The Lakers delivered their best performance of the season, led by quarterback Adam Urena, who passed for 253 yards and four touchdowns. Cameron Barmore headlined the receiving corps with nine catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Rylan Davison added another touchdown. The ground game was also effective, with Ethen Knox rushing for 76 yards and a score.
 
On defense, Mercyhurst was exceptional, forcing multiple turnovers and shutting down Lincoln's offense. Adonis Marshall's 43-yard fumble return for a touchdown capped off the defense's stellar showing, as the Lakers demonstrated dominance in all facets of the game.
 
Laker Spotlight
Mercyhurst's offense has been a bright spot throughout the season, averaging 30.3 points per game. Adam Urena has been the driving force, throwing for 2,533 yards and 29 touchdowns, completing over 67% of his passes. His top target, Cameron Barmore, has had an outstanding season, leading the team with 784 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Rylan Davison and Chaz Davis have also made significant contributions, combining for six receiving touchdowns.
On the defensive side, the Lakers have been led by Tyler Buterbaugh and Zach Hill, who have combined for over 130 tackles. The unit has forced 11 interceptions this season, showcasing their ability to capitalize on opponents' mistakes.
 
Scouting Saint Francis
Saint Francis University comes into Saturday's game with a 4-6 overall record, including a 2-4 mark in conference play. The Red Flash have momentum on their side, riding a two-game winning streak with victories over Stonehill (34-0) and LIU (34-27). Their season has been one of ups and downs, with notable wins against Kent State and Delaware State, but struggles offensively in losses to Wagner and Robert Morris, where they were shut out.
 
Offensively, Saint Francis has demonstrated balance, with capable playmakers on both the ground and through the air. Defensively, they've been opportunistic, recently holding Stonehill scoreless and making key stops to secure the win against LIU.
