Binghamton, NY.- The Mercyhurst Women's Bowling team had an impressive showing at their first ever NEC meet. The Lakers finished tied for first with Duquesne as the team continues to wow in their inaugural Division I season.
How it Happened:
The Lakers kicked off the first three days of action with a match against Niagara, who they handled 987-875. Freshman
Tia Germanich led the Lakers in the first game with a score of 222. In the second matchup against Wagner, Freshman
Mackensie Livingston led the way as she rolled 231 in their 971-809 win. Livingston led the Lakers in their 991-985 win over Monmouth as well. She finished with 235 in the matchup. Mercyhurst finished day one with a 959-819 loss to Duquesne.
In day two, the Lakers started against LIU, who they handled 834-799.
Nicole Lemponen put up 184 as she led Mercyhurst to their fourth win in five games. In the final game of traditional, Mercyhurst pulled off a huge win over FDU, edging them 943-866.
In baker, the Lakers dropped their first two matches. The first was a 942-860 loss to FDU and the second was a 995-936 to Duquesne. Mercyhurst finished off the day on a four-game win streak with wins over Niagara, Wagner, Monmouth and LIU.
Mercyhurst had three bowlers finish in the top ten at the meet.
Delaney Whitehead finished fifth overall with an average of 187.17. She rolled 211 twice as she continues to impress. Germanich finished with an average of 184 and Lemponen was close behind with 183.67. They finished seventh and eighth, respectfully.
Mercyhurst finished 9-3 on the weekend, which was good enough to have them tie with Duquesne.

Mercyhurst will take some time off before they get back on the hardwood. They'll return to action at the Northeast Classic on Friday, January 17
th.
