Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Volleyball team ended their season on a high note, defeating Le Moyne College in straight sets (29-27, 25-21, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Lakers wrapped up their season with the first weekend sweep of the season.
How It Happened:
The opening set was a thriller, with both teams battling back and forth through 16 ties and seven lead changes. Mercyhurst edged out the Dolphins 29-27, thanks to a clutch kill from Andrea Zaric and a strong block by Trinity Tatupu and Kaitlin Murphy.
In the second set, Mercyhurst found their rhythm offensively, hitting .256% as a team. Key kills from Paige Miller and Esra Akcay helped the Lakers take control late in the set, winning 25-21. The third set followed a similar pattern, with Zaric and Murphy leading the charge to close out the match 25-21.
