North Easton, MA – The Mercyhurst Lakers Volleyball team earned their first Northeast Conference win on Saturday, defeating Stonehill College in four sets (27-25, 15-25, 25-16, 25-17).
How It Happened:
The first set was a tightly contested battle, with both teams exchanging points and leads. Mercyhurst edged out Stonehill in the end, taking the set 27-25 behind strong offensive performances from Paige Miller and Kaitlin Murphy. However, Stonehill responded in the second set, capitalizing on several Mercyhurst errors to win 25-15 and even the match at one set apiece.
Mercyhurst regained control in the third set, hitting an impressive .391 while limiting Stonehill to a .037 hitting percentage. The Lakers took the set 25-16, with Jessica Wilson and Ersa Akcay making key contributions at the net. In the fourth set, Mercyhurst sealed the match with a dominant 25-17 victory, hitting .483 as a team.
