Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Women's Bowling team opened up their season this weekend when they hosted the Mercyhurst Invitational. The Lakers welcomed Wright State, Niagara, Mount St. Mary's, Daemen, Kutztown, Pitt Bradford, William Smith, D'Youville and Penn State Behrend. Mercyhurst finished fourth on the weekend.
 
How it Happened
The Lakers were edged by Mount St. Mary's 4-2 to finish fourth in the action for the weekend. Mount St. Mary's won 181-135, before the Lakers won 184-175. Mount St. Mary's won three of the last four games to earn third place on the day. Wright State defeated Niagara to win the tournament. Tia Germanich had the highest finish for Mercyhurst, as she ended up fifth in competition with an average of 202.

Mercyhurst goes on the road, where they'll stay for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season, to compete in the Penguin Classic at Youngstown State University.
