Teaneck, N.J. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Volleyball team went toe-to-toe with Fairleigh Dickinson in a five-set battle on Saturday afternoon at the Bogota Savings Bank Center but ultimately fell short, losing 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 13-25, 25-17, 13-15). The loss drops the Lakers to 2-12 overall and 1-3 in NEC play, while FDU improves to 14-5 overall and 4-0 in conference action.
How It Happened:
Mercyhurst came out strong in the first set, hitting .333 and winning 25-20, with Paige Miller and Andrea Zaric leading the attack. FDU responded by taking the second set 25-20, and then dominated the third set 25-13, limiting the Lakers to a negative hitting percentage.
The Lakers bounced back in the fourth set, hitting .308 to secure a 25-17 victory, forcing a decisive fifth set. Both teams exchanged points in a closely contested final frame, but FDU edged out Mercyhurst 15-13 to take the match.
