Erie, PA- Mercyhurst Field Hockey is ready to play two games in the next week as they take on LIU and La Salle University. The Lakers face off against LIU at home in a conference matchup on Sunday, October 13th at 11:00 AM and are away at La Salle University on Friday, October 18th at 3:00 PM.

Laker Outlook 

The Lakers look to continue improving as they edge near the end of their season. Their most recent game against Fairfield proved to be a tough matchup, but they were still able to score despite facing a strong defense. Mercyhurst totals five goals so far this season, with two being scored by Rachel Kosowski and the rest being scored by Marina Evert, Delfina Magro, and Lola Williams. Assists are led by Marina Evert and Catherine Hudak, who each have one on the season. Jen Kemp continues to lead the Lakers in defensive saves, with four so far this season, and Delfina Magro and Lola Williams each have two. There is no doubt that Mercyhurst would not be able to go without goalkeeper Kayla Desormeau, who has already racked up an impressive 119 saves so far this season. The Lakers continue to rank 9th in the NEC Field Hockey Standings, just below Merrimack College. 

Scouting LIU

NEC opponent Long Island University has an overall record of 3-6 so far this season and has a conference record of 0-1, as they fell to Wagner College by 4. Their most recent game came with a loss against UMass Lowell by a score of 3-1. LIU is ranked 6th in the current NEC Field Hockey Standings. 

Scouting La Salle

La Salle University has a 7-4 record so far this season and is ranked 5th in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Their most recent game ended in an overtime win against Longwood University by a score of 3-2. Other notable games are their wins against NEC members, as they defeated Wagner College by a score of 2-1 and Fairfield University by a score of 2-1.
