15/15 Lakers Drop Game One at 8/8 St. Lawrence

Canton, NY – The Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey team traveled up to Canton, New York for a two-game series against #8/8 St. Lawrence.  St. Lawrence kept the #15/15 Lakers off the scoreboard in a 3-0 win.

How it Happened

At the halfway point of the period, the game remained scoreless. The Lakers had quality looks in the period but couldn't get anything to go as the period expired with a scoreless tie.

Early in the second period, the Saints got on the board first to take a 1-0 lead. The Saints continued to press, but the Laker defense was doing its job to keep it within one. At the end of two periods of play, the Lakers trailed the Saints 1-0.

Early in the third period, the Lakers took a holding penalty, but they were able to kill the Saints power play to keep the score where it was. Around the halfway point of the third, the Saints put another one on the board, taking a 2-0 lead. The Saints grabbed an empty net goal late to extend their lead to 3-0.
