The Lakers Hit the Road for Waltham

Waltham, Ma. — Mercyhurst gets back to action this weekend with a trip to Bentley for a two game series. This is the first and only time the two sides will see each other this season.

Matchup History vs Bentley

Historically, the Lakers have the Falcons number with an all-time record of 36-19-7 against them, dating back to the 1999/00 season. In recent years, Bentley has had the edge over Mercyhurst. They met once last year in Erie, splitting the series at one game a piece. The Lakers won the first game 4-3, capturing the winner in the final seconds of the second period and lost game two 3-5. Their last time in Waltham, Mercyhurst was swept on the weekend, outscored 4-7 overall on the weekend.

Recap
On Thursday, Mercyhurst visited Canisius in Buffalo for a one game series. It was a tough night for the Lakers, who weren't able to convert many of the chances they worked hard to get as Golden Griffin goalie David Fessenden put on a solid performance. The Lakers avoided the shutout in the final seconds of the game with Garrett Dahm getting them on the board for a 4-1 final. Tyler DesRohers and Will Margel were there on the assist, marking freshman DesRochers' first career collegiate point.

A Look at the Falcons
Bentley is led by head coach Andy Jones, who is in his first year with the program after holding an associate head coach position at UMass-Lowell. The Falcons welcomed 12 newcomers to their squad this year, composed of 8 freshmen and 4 transfers. Among the transfers is former Laker Jonathan Bendorf, he played in 115 games and scored 24 goals with 33 assists for 57 points over the past 4 seasons. Nik Armstrong-Kingkade, a transfer from UMass-Lowell, leads the team in goals with 7. Senior Ethan Leyh is in front on both assists at 12 and points with 18 overall. Senior goalie Nicholas Grabko has the lead in both saves and save percentage at 263 and .904.


Puck drop for game one is set for Friday, January 19th at 7:05 pm and 4:05 pm for game two on Saturday, January 20th.
