Lock Haven, Pa. - Mercyhurst Men's Soccer hit the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Lock Haven for a match. After a game that went back and forth the Lakers were able to come out on top with a 1-0 win.
How it Happened
The first half was quiet for both teams, as it took 12 minutes for the first shot of the game to take place, as Luis Felipe Santos put a shot on goal that was saved. A few minutes later the Lakers had another scoring opportunity as Jorge Tallada Torres put a shot on goal that missed wide. Shortly after the Lakers had multiple shots on goal, as Luis Felipe Santos, Ryan Lieser, and Andreas Rossak all put shots on goal.
Finally, the tie was broken. Guilherme de Lima Cunha broke the 0-0 tie as he found the back of the net for the goal. The game would remain 1-0 as the teams went into the locker room.
The second half was quieter than the first half. Both teams traded shots and saves for the entirety of the second half. With just under ten minutes left Lock Haven had a chance to tie as they were granted a penalty kick. Lock Haven was unable to convert the kick as it sailed high of the goal. The Lakers maintained their one goal lead. The clock hit 0:00 and the Lakers would take the win 1-0.
