Ashland, Oh. - Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team traveled to Ashland, Ohio for a matchup with Ashland. In a low scoring game, the Lakers were able to come away with a 1-0 win. The win improved the Lakers record to 4-0.
How it Happened
It was a quiet start for both teams. Guilherme de Lima Cunha was able to put a shot on goal around the 13-minute mark. Dylan Sumner came right back down the field and put a shot on goal of his own. It took the Lakers until the 41-minute mark for them to put another shot on goal. It was Jorge Tallada Torres who threw a shot on goal, but it was saved. Halftime rolled around and the Lakers and Ashland went to the break scoreless. The Lakes came out of halftime with some juice, as they were firing shots on goal. Luis Felipe Santos, Dylan Sumner, and Lockie Fay all put shots on goal early in the second half. After putting pressure on the Ashland goaltender, the Lakers broke through. Dylan Sumner found an opening in the bottom left corner and beat the goaltender for a goal. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead. For the next few minutes both sides traded fouls. The Lakers got a few more scoring opportunites but didn't come away with any success. Time ticked off the clock and the Lakers came away with a 1-0 win over Ashland.
