Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst finished out the month of September with a loss as they welcomed West Chester to town Saturday morning. Mercyhurst did well to stick with their opponent in the early going, but were unable to come away with the win in the 3-0 loss.
How it Happened
The Lakers found themselves in a defensive battle to begin the game as neither team was able to score in the early going. Mercyhurst's back line held strong through the first seven minutes and change as they allowed only three shots in the first nine minutes and change, but the Golden Rams finally broke through. West Chester forward Paige Wolfe was able to fire one off in to the back of the net with just over five minutes to go in the period, 1-0. The rest of the first half went by without a whimper as West Chester went into the halftime break up by one.
The Golden Rams began to aggressive in the second half, resulting in a pair of goals. They had to wait a while for their first as Mercyhurst's defense continued to play well and refused to give up a goal. Eventually, the Golden Rams made it a multi-goal game with over three minutes to go in the third. West Chester continued their strong attack in the fourth with them adding on with one more in final few minutes, moving the Lakers to 2-7 on the year.
Highlights
Kayla Desormeau added 11 saves to her line while allowing three goals. She is now up to 78 saves for the season, collecting double-digit saves in each of her last three games and four of her last five.

Mercyhurst opens up October with IUP on the 4th with the Crimson Hawks flying into town for a 2:00 p.m. start inside Saxon Stadium.
