Erie, Pa. - After falling in their week four matchup to IUP to move to 1-3 on the season, Mercyhurst Football goes on the road. They don't have far to go, though, as they travel to Edinboro to face the Fighting Scots on Saturday, September 30th, with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
Looking Back
The Lakers and Fighting Scots battled inside Saxon Stadium last season for Mercyhurst's homecoming game. Edinboro got the better of that matchup in a low-scoring 16-13 final in a game in which the Fighting Scots were able to jump out in front with 10 points in the opening frame.
Davison's Big Day
Rylan Davison was the go-to option on offense last game against IUP. The senior wide receiver registered five catches for 77 yards to go along with two touchdowns, all team-leading stats. Davison caught both of Adam Urena's touchdown throws with one coming in the second and then another in the fourth, giving Davison his first multi-score game of his career.
Laker Leaders
Davison's big day helped him move into first in receptions with 19 while his 208 yards also come out on top. He is followed by Cameron Barmore with 16 catches for 186 yards and four TDs while Trevon Tate rounds out the top three with 14 catches and 188 yards and one score. Adam Urena has compiled 96 completions to this point in the season with 1,052 yards to go along with 10 touchdowns. On defense, Taylor Christian leads the way with 30 total tackles, followed by Camden White and Anthony Mackey with 23. White also leads the team in tackles for a loss (3.5) and sacks (2.5).
Scouting the Scots
Edinboro is 1-3 to this point in the season with their lone win coming against Bloomsburg in their week three matchup, 23-13. In their PSAC opener against Cal, the Fighting Scots fell on their own turf 31-10. The team's offense has a dynamic duo in Aaron Hopkins and Brian Trobel. Hopkins has been the top target through the air with 17 catches for 219 yards to his line while Trobel has amassed 280Â yards on the ground while finding the end zone three times.
Next Game
Mercyhurst comes back home for their next game as they are set to open the month of October with Slippery Rock on the 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the team's homecoming game.
