Erie, PA- The 22nd ranked team in the nation took their 6-1 record into Edinboro this evening and came away with another win, out scoring the Fighting Scot's 1-0. They improve to 7-1 on the year and extend their winning streak to seven in a row.
How it Happened:
Despite the recent offensive production from the Lakers, the team struggled to convert opportunities against the Scot's. Through the first half, the Lakers were only able to manage one shot on goal. Edinboro put up a few more attempts, but were also held scoreless in the first half.
The Lakers gained some momentum in the second half, putting five shots on goal. The defense held strong all game and continued their solid play as Maddie Elbro tallied seven total saves. Her sixth shutout speaks volumes to not only her ability in net, but to the strength of the defensive unit as a whole.
With a little over nine minuets left in the match, the Lakers finally broke the tie to take a 1-0 lead. Karah Van Horn found Camille Bultel who beat the keeper to give the Lakers the advantage. The lead remained until the final whistle and the Lakers escaped with another victory.
Highlights:
Camille Bultel, a Freshman from Roubaix, France, scored her third goal of the year. Bultel, along with fellow forward, Corinne Morgan, are two Freshman that bring promise to the program, and both have been instrumental in the teams recent success. Karah Van Horn, who is as steady as they come, added another assist to her season stat line to go along with her team leading five goals.
Defensively, Maddie Elbro turned in another solid performance recording seven saves, and recording her sixth shutout.
